Pastilla de la tensión, ¿por la noche o por la mañana? Muchos estudios previos indicaban que había un beneficio cardiovascular cuando la toma de estos medicamentos era nocturna.
En el último congreso europeo de cardiología celebrado a finales de agosto del 2022 se publicaron los resultados del estudio TIME (Reino Unido), en el cual se aleatorizaron 21.104 pacientes (58% varones), 10.503 para la dosis nocturna y 10.601 para la dosis matutina, con hipertensión seguidos durante 5.2 años, evidenciándose que el riesgo de infarto de miocardio, ictus y muerte vascular no se ve afectado por el hecho de que los fármacos antihipertensivos se tomen por la mañana (entre las 6 am y 10 am) o por la noche (entre las 8 pm y 12 pm), excluyéndose a aquellos que tomaban medicamentos antihipertensivos varias veces al día.
En este trabajo, el criterio de valoración principal ocurrió en 362 participantes (3,4%) en el grupo de dosis nocturna (0,69 eventos por 100 años-paciente) y 390 (3,7 %) en el grupo de dosis matutina (0,72 eventos por 100 años-paciente), sin apreciarse diferencias entre los subgrupos, especialmente en pacientes con diabetes cuya presión arterial nocturna a menudo se mantiene elevada.
Así pues, el estumo TIME (Universidad Dundee, UK) ha demostrado que el beneficio de la toma de medicación antihipertensiva se mantiene de manera independiente del horario en que se tome la medicación, no hay diferencias entre tomarla por la mañana o por la noche. A los pacientes con Hipertensión Arterial siempre les comento que la hora no es importante, lo más importante es TOMARLO y NO OLVIDARLO.
